How to Get the Most Out of Your Phyla Routine

How to Get the Most Out of Your Phyla Routine

There’s really no question that a regular, daily skin routine is vital to maintaining happy, healthy skin.

Sometimes it can be hard to establish a routine of self-care, but if you practice one consistently, you’ll begin to reap the rewards. You’ll see these rewards not just in your skin, but in your peace of mind, too. We call that a win-win!

CONSISTENCY IS KEY 🔑

For best results, we recommend that you use the Phyla system on its own for at least 60 days. Phyla users see an incredible increase in microbiome diversity in the first 60 days of use. Microbiome diversity is important for clearing acne and long-term skin health. Check out our clinical trial here to see why consistent use is key.

KEEP IT COOL ❄️

We recommend putting the Acne Fighting Phage Serum in the refrigerator as soon as possible upon arrival. The Acne Fighting Phage Serum contains our proprietary live phage, and it needs to be refrigerated when not in use.

Our products have gone through multiple tests to ensure efficacy while traveling, even in the heat. So, a week or two on vacation is no problem!

BE NICE TO OUR PHAGES 🤝

Phyla works best when used on its own. We recommend our complete Acne-Fighting Phage Kit for best results.

When using Phyla, you may consider temporarily discontinuing use of most products. Using the complete Acne-Fighting Phage Kit on its own will not only reduce the ingredient burden on your skin, but it will give our phage the best chance to work hard to recalibrate your microbiome and keep those breakouts at bay.

WHAT THE PHAGE? 🔬

A bacteriophage (phage for short), is a microorganism that exclusively targets specific bacteria. Since they are highly specific, they can be used to kill bad bacteria without hurting good bacteria. More excitingly, Phyla's phage specifically kills acne causing bacteria only, Cutibacterium acnes

Did you know billions of phages are already living on your skin microbiome? Because phages are naturally associated with healthy skin, they're incredibly gentle and can be used every day without any side effects.

Phun Phact: Using bacteriophages isn’t new technology, the first known therapeutic use of phages occurred in 1917!

C. ACNES + YOUR PHACE 🦠

Acne is a multifactorial disease. There are many phactors that contribute to its occurrence and severity - including diet, stress, genetics, and hormones. These are all secondary phactors that support the primary cause of acne, which is the overgrowth of Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes).

How do those secondary factors figure in acne? It turns out that all those factors – diet, stress, genetics, hormones – are linked to changes in skin chemistry, specifically in ways that affect the food for C. acnes. If you eat too much spicy food, stress out, or exercise in a way that makes you sweat more, you’re providing more food for this bacteria. Some people are genetically predisposed to have oily skin, large pores, or sweat more – that’s a bacteria buffet. Hormones can change skin chemistry too, which stimulates the sebaceous glands to provide more microbial munchies. You get the idea.

Phyla treats acne by targeting only the acne causing bacteria on your skin without disrupting your skin's microbiome. By targeting the bad bacteria, C. acnes, we're getting to the root cause of the acne.
